The Laboratory Technician should be able to perform majority of wet chemistry analyses on juice or wine samples.
They must be able to operate and calibrate primary lab instruments.
Work with minimal supervision performing primary analyses after training period, maintain a clean and organized work area, write in a clear, concise manner and fill out paperwork completely and correctly.
Essential Duties:
Perform required chemical analyses for weekly bulk samples, Blends, Bottling Approvals, and grape and Fermenter samples Operate and calibrate basic lab instruments.
(pH meter, O2 meter, Auto-titrator, Alcolyzer, Spectrophotometer, Densitometer, CarboQC, etc.
) Standardization of Iodine Familiarity and compliance with Safety Rules, Procedure Manuals, MSDS Ability to complete paperwork and data entry Understand and comply with all ISO9001, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/
Experience:
0-2 years' lab experience Basic skills in English, Math, Chemistry High School diploma or GED preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
English, basic Math, and basic Chemistry or Enology Lab techniques for current methods of grape and wine analysis is preferred Gas Chromatography, Atomic Absorption, Arena Analyzer, Foss FT120, etc.
basic knowledge of sample set-up and analysis Lab techniques in pipetting, weighing, titration, and calibration Computer data entry - Microsoft Excel and Access Maintaining and organizing a clean work area Communicate professionally and effectively with Company personnel Work independently or with little supervision Work as a team PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Stand for extended periods of time Lift up to 40 lbs.
Drag up to 50 lbs.
Ability to differentiate color changes Use a computer Frequently work around chemicals or solvents WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional noise levels requiring hearing protection Indoor climate, limited outdoor climate Frequently work around chemicals or solvents PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Lab coat, appropriate hand protection, Side shield safety glasses, proper footwear, long pants or dresses/boots which cover the legs completely.
Hard Hat and ear protection when in production facility.
